Commenting on Something:

  • “It’s Interesting” — wow it really sucks.
  • “It works” — you’re not fired.
  • “Wow amazing” — It’s okay.
  • “Nice” (after a thoughtful pause) — It’s very good, maybe Oscar worthy.

Asking for Something:

  • “When you get a chance…” — do it fucking now.
  • “Could you do me a favor?” — or else you’re fired.
  • “Can we discuss a business affairs issue?” — where the fuck is my check?
  • “Can I buy you lunch?” — can I please shove my pitch down your throat?

Responding to a Request:

  • “I’ll see what I can do” — no fucking way am I doing that.
  • “I’ll get right on it” — is next week okay?
  • “I’m not comfortable with that” — get the fuck out of my face, now.
  • “If I can make an alternate suggestion…” — what the fuck were you thinking, are you on drugs?

Predicting Success:

  • “We expect a very wide release” — lots of kids will download pirate copies.
  • “The box office will be huge” — I’ll get my mom to buy a ticket.
  • “You’re gonna go far in this biz” — I need you to work for cheap…or free.
